ISPyB Sterering committee report 17/11/2025

Before the start of the developers' and steering commitee meetings, DLS opined that there
was nothing software-like to discuss, the meeting should be dedicated to exchanging experiences,
and that the developers did not really have anythying to talk about in their meeting.

The steering committee ultimately reported a discussion that did not reach a firm conclusion:

On one hand the committee agreed that there is a need for a way to make it easier for users to get
information to the synchrotrions and back, and that a API would be needed. Some proposed that MXLIMS
could be a useful way to achieve that. 

Others pointed out that there were a lot of obstacles. It is always hard to get funding for technical
improvements or maintenance, resources are stretched and there are many demands on them.
It would be necessary to investigate what the user needs and priorities are, clearly define the
problems to solve, decide how to address them, and apply for the relevant funding - all of which
would clearly take a significant amount of time.

The developers' committee initiated a wide-ranging discussion that continued on the follwing day.
The results will be incorporated in the discussion summary for day 2 (November 18th).
